O R D E R:

            In the G.O. 1st read above, permission was accorded to fill up two hundred and sixty six (266) posts of Nurse-Practitioners with candidates who have been trained and working in these posts, provided they were qualified to hold such a post, duly following the established procedures for contracting staff under NRHM through District Health Society chaired by the District Collector.

2.         The Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare in the letter 2nd above has informed that the District Medical & Health Officers of the concerned districts have initiated the process for appointment of Nurse Practitioners through the District Health Societies and two hundred and thirty seven (237) Nurse Practitioners have been appointed of the 266 Nurse Practitioners posts sanctioned to be filled on annual contract.  The Nurse Practitioners are essential for integrated delivery of primary health services with special focus on HIV / AIDS control and PPTCT activities.

3.         The Government after examination of the matter hereby order the continuation of two hundred and sixty six (266) posts of Nurse-Practitioners for a period of one year, i.e. from 01.04.2011 to 31.03.2012 along with the persons holding these posts duly following the contracting guidelines scrupulously.  The budget shall be met from NRHM grant of 2011-12 financial year.

4.         The Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare shall take necessary action accordingly.  The CH&FW., shall ensure that these Nurse practitioners perform all tasks relating to primary health system and are fully integrated into PHC functioning. The Commissioner shall assess the workload of all nursing staff working in the health facilities where Nurse-practitioners are currently posted and ensure equal work distribution among all nurses.  Overall, the number of nurses, including the nurse practitioners; in 24/7 PHCs should not be more than three and those in other PHCs be one or two based on the nature of intensity of work.

5.         This order issues with the concurrence of Finance (SMPC) Department vide their U.O. No.10167/292/A1/SMPC-II/11, dt.2.5.2011.
